Elaine's background is in design. She is one of Hong Kong's most respected commercial interior designers. Since arriving in Hong Kong in the early 90's, Elaine has collaborated with a diverse and established portfolio of clients. From fine dining on Hong Kong’s Peak to harmonizing your body and mind in Shanghai’s newest yoga studio, Elaine’s signature style has been experienced and enjoyed across a wide range of retail and hospitality locations throughout Asia.
Elaine brings a brilliant level of creative insight that will ensure that the business is always positioned at the forefront of innovative design.
Our figurehead both in form and intellect. Our number one must have Chairman who said “yes”. Think winning lotto, dancing in the streets etc, etc. Investment banker, smart, well connected, yachtsman, frontman for jazz bands, tall, blonde and knows a thing or two about wine. You get the picture why sheʼs our Chairman. A champion of Sustainability, Alex speaks and writes on the topic to international audiences. When she does have a moment and sheʼs not traveling, Alex enjoys lazy days at home in Hong Kong with her two Australian Labradors “Bruce” and “Shazza”.
A smouldering intellect. Our first choice to join the Board, this measured, feel good woman previously worked in-house for some of the worlds most respected names in the fashion industry. Monica has a contagious brilliance and when she does manage to prize open a gap in the Board room chatter, we listen! You know the type...why didnʼt I think of that...that makes so much sense....thatʼs so brilliantly simple! We say previously because she now has her own fashion and lifestyle consulting Firm called ah...um... something West. Wild West?.....no. head West?...no, not that either. Ooo, ooo, pick me, pick me! It's 852West! Gold star for you! When she's not working, days spent cooking homestyle Spanish food at her house by the water in Hong Kong are one of her true treasures.
Itʼs such a privilege to have this vivacious, energetic woman on the tom hugh Board. Nichole is originality, energy and just plain great fun rolled into one! Execution is her second name. Itʼs done before you put the phone down. Sophisticated without the pretence, smooth without the fuss and a smile free of agenda, Nicholeʼs public relations and marketing skills are highly sought after by a range of blue chips in Hong Kong. Wonderfully connected, easily approachable and always willing to help, Nichole is brilliant in the kitchen as well! Got to love those red chilies thrown in with the rosemary and garlic spuds, washed down with an Australian white of course. Weʼre hungry just thinking about it!
The creative genius behind tom hugh. An accomplished designer of bars, restaurants, health clubs, yoga studios and pavlova toppings. Twenty years of Hong Kong exposure have led this savvy, streetwise dynamo to a new adventure. The original and still the best Dancing Queen, Elaine is one half of the tom hugh story. Her quiet reflection, fine tuning, ability to smooth rough edges and stakeholder experience are irreplaceable assets. Although heavily steeped in her Scottish heritage, her mum thinks sheʼs developing an Australian twang. Funny that!
Tom Pugh,..... weʼd like to introduce you to tom hugh. We know, bizarre but true! Every Board needs a Young Turk and Tom is ours and we don’t leave home without him. Rising quickly through the private equity ranks in Hong Kong, Tom is a vibrant professional with a strong financial background who helps steer the company though the financial maelstrom that is business. Every Board needs a guy like Tom. Multi-talented, he is just as comfortable downtown Hong Kong as he is structuring deals in far flung places around the globe. An accomplished footballer (not the Australian Rules version, as thatʼs only for real men), Tom regularly scores from outside the penalty box while playing for his beloved soccer team in Hong Kong...or at least thatʼs what he tells us.
The source of the original concept that is tom hugh, Richard is a corporate lawyer in Hong Kong. Often described as tetchy, alright lets be honest, he is a little highly strung, he brings an enthusiasm to the company fuelled by his insatiable quest for change and an urgency to give to others which only the more advancing years can bring. Richard has a passion for the ocean (Sri Lanka has waves...really? who would have thought), and dreams incessantly of one day running “Rick and Mickʼs Bar and Grill” on an idyllic beach (Sri Lanka has beaches as well...this just gets better and better!). One half of tom hugh, he has brought together five of the most amazing people (plus the tetchy one), that are the tom hugh Board. Oh, and he gets to write really neat things about them in their bioʼs. Seriously though, he’s not tetchy and anyone who says he is will likely make him..........oh alright, tetchy. Can we move on now please!
The Board would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Jack Baker, our 14 year old website consultant who took a squarespace template (thanks to the team at squarespace too) and turned it into the website it is! Just so you know, Jack’s available for birthdays, weddings and bar mitzvahs. Brilliant job mate. Love dad x
